This Privacy Policy explains how SafelySituated™ Home Assessments, LLC (“SafelySituated,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and shares personal information when you visit www.safelysituated.com (the “Site”) or use our home safety assessment services (the “Services”). By using the Site or Services, you agree to this Privacy Policy. Questions? Contact us at jen@safelysituated.com.

1. Information We Collect

Information you provide to us

  • Contact information: name, email address, phone number, mailing address, and the address of the home being assessed.

  • Service details: the assessment you request, your home’s size, and information you choose to share about the people who live in the home — for example, a child’s age or stage, or a parent’s routines and needs.

  • Home photos and video: images and video of your home taken during an in-person assessment or shared during a virtual home review. These may incidentally show people or personal belongings.

  • Payment information: payments are handled by a third-party payment processor. We do not receive or store full card numbers.

  • Communications: emails, messages, form submissions, and notes from consultation and follow-up calls.

Information about other people
If you share information about another person — such as your child, your parent, or someone you nominate for The Pryor Project™ — you confirm that you have their permission or the authority to share it.

The Pryor Project nominations
When you nominate someone for a pro bono assessment, we collect the information you provide about the nominee, such as their name, contact details, location, and the reason for the nomination. We use this information only to review the nomination and, if appropriate, to contact the nominee. Submitting a nomination does not guarantee an assessment. Information about nominees who are not selected is deleted within 12 months.

Health-related information
SafelySituated is a non-medical service and does not request medical records. If you choose to share information about mobility, health, or development to help us understand how your home is used, we use it only to prepare your Roadmap or review a nomination.

Information collected automatically
When you visit the Site, our website platform (Squarespace) may use cookies and similar technologies to collect information such as your IP address, browser and device type, pages visited, referring website, and general location (such as city or region).

2. How We Use Information
We use personal information to:

  • schedule, provide, and follow up on the Services, including preparing your Roadmap

  • respond to inquiries and communicate with you about appointments

  • review Pryor Project nominations

  • process payments and keep business records

  • understand how the Site is used and improve it

Photos and video of your home are used only to prepare your Roadmap. We do not use them in marketing without your written permission.

3. How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information or share it for targeted advertising. We share information only:

  • With service providers that help us run our business — such as website hosting and forms (Squarespace), scheduling (Microsoft Bookings), email, video calls (such as Zoom), file storage, and payment processing — and only as needed for them to perform services for us.

  • With people you direct us to, such as family members joining a family briefing call, or a contractor or architect you ask us to send your Roadmap to.

  • For legal reasons, such as complying with a law, court order, or legal process, or protecting the rights or safety of any person.

  • In a business transfer, such as a sale or merger of our business, subject to this Privacy Policy.

4. Cookies and Analytics
The Site uses cookies for basic functions and to understand how visitors use it. Most browsers let you block or delete cookies, although some Site features may not work as intended.

Do Not Track: our Site does not currently respond to browser “Do Not Track” signals.

5. Children’s Privacy
The Site and Services are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from anyone under 18. Parents and guardians may share information about their children, and photos or video of the home may show children. We collect this information only from the parent or guardian and use it only to provide the Services. Parents may ask us to review or delete it at any time.

6. How Long We Keep Information
We keep personal information only as long as needed to provide the Services and meet legal, tax, and business record requirements. Home photos and video are kept for up to three years after your assessment and then deleted. Information about Pryor Project nominees who are not selected is deleted within 12 months.

7. How We Protect Information
We use reasonable measures designed to protect your personal information, including storing home photos and video on a password-protected device. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Your Choices and Rights
You may ask to access, correct, or delete your personal information by contacting us at jen@safelysituated.com. This includes nominees who would like their information removed. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request, and we may keep certain information when required by law. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under applicable law, and we will respond to requests as that law requires.

California residents: we do not share personal information with third parties for their own direct marketing purposes.

9. Clients in the European Union and United Kingdom
If you are located in the EU or UK, we process your personal information on the following legal bases: to perform our contract with you or take steps at your request before entering into one; with your consent, which you may withdraw at any time; to meet our legal obligations; and for our legitimate interests in operating and improving our business, where those interests do not override your rights. You may have the right to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal information, and to restrict or object to its processing. To make a request, contact us at jen@safelysituated.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
