FOUNDER & PRINCIPAL HOME SAFETY STRATEGIST30 Years of Insight. One Mission: A Home Where You Can Thrive.
In my 30 years working in the field of Occupational Therapy, I consistently heard the industry phrase “aging in place.” To me, that phrase has never felt right — it sounds passive, resigned - like something that passively happens to you.
At SafelySituated™, we reject that narrative. We don’t believe in “aging in place.” We promote Thriving in Place.™ Thriving is active. It belongs to the proactive adult who refuses to let their environment dictate their limitations.
Thriving means your home isn’t just a place where you reside — it’s a high-performing foundation that supports your movement, your hobbies, and your independence. That’s what SafelySituated is built to deliver.
THE HEART OF THE HOME
Function and Safety
A home is only a sanctuary if it functions for the people living in it. When a home is working properly, you don't notice it. But when the "physics of the everyday" starts to create friction — whether it's a toddler's first climb or an adult's changing mobility — the home can go from a place of comfort to a source of worry.
I use my decades of professional insight to optimize your home to be a safe, functional environment that allows you to stop worrying about the "what ifs" and start focusing on thriving. I see the invisible details — the lighting gaps, the floor transitions, and the reach zones — that make the difference between a home that hinders and a home that works.
A PERSONAL MISSION
Retiring the “Safety Police”
This mission is deeply personal. Like many of my clients, I found myself in the role of the “Safety Police” for my own fiercely independent parents. Being geographically separated from them, I was constantly worried about their safety — but my efforts to help felt like an intrusion on their autonomy.
I have personally navigated every stage that SafelySituated’s four roadmaps address. I raised children in a home that needed to be safe for small, curious, fearless little people. And I watched my parents — the people who inspired this company — make the choice to remain in their home as their needs changed around them.
That second experience taught me more than any certification could. I learned firsthand how complicated those conversations are. How delicate the balance is between respecting a parent’s fierce independence and advocating for their safety. How easy it is, in hindsight, to see the things you wish you had done differently — the conversations you wish you had started sooner, the modifications that seemed unnecessary until suddenly they weren’t.
I realized that to protect our relationship, we needed a Professional Strategy. By applying an objective lens to their home — identifying the gaps in safety and function — I provided a neutral roadmap. It moved our conversations away from emotion and back to a place of mutual respect.
I stopped managing their house, and I went back to being their daughter.
That peace of mind is what I want for every family I serve. I started SafelySituated in part so that other families don’t have to learn those lessons the hard way. My hope is that my experience — including my mistakes — saves you from some of yours.
"Safety isn't about restriction; it's about the freedom to move through your life with confidence. Thriving in place is a choice to remain the architect of your own lifestyle."

THE HEART BEHIND SAFELYSITUATED™
Dick & Jacki Pryor. The Inspiration.
My parents were people of service. They believed it was simply the right way to live. Because they came from humble beginnings, they never forgot what it felt like to need a helping hand. I miss them every day.
They are the inspiration behind:
The core purpose of this company.
The compassion I bring to every single client.
The specialized program we created in their honor.
The Pryor Project™
The Pryor Project™ is their legacy—and mine. We founded it on a simple belief: Safety should never be a privilege.
Through this initiative, we are committed to making high-quality, non-medical home safety assessments accessible to those who need them. We honor Dick and Jacki Pryor by continuing their lifetime mission of giving back.
THE SAFELYSITUATED™ PHILOSOPHY
Strategy for Peace of Mind
We approach every home as a unique puzzle of physics and human movement. We don’t believe “safety” should feel clinical or overwhelming — we believe it should feel like a baseline of support. Whether we are optimizing for discovery for a child or optimizing for autonomy for an adult, our focus remains on three core pillars
Safety
Identifying the Environmental Micro-Stressors™ that standard architecture often misses — before they become a crisis.
Function
Ensuring the home’s layout and physics support your daily rhythm — so your environment works for you, not against you.
Peace of Mind
Providing a professional roadmap so you can stop worrying about the “what ifs” and start focusing on living
Our Objectivity Pledge
In an industry often driven by product sales and referral fees, SafelySituated™ stands apart. Our only product is your Strategic Roadmap — which means our advice is 100% objective. Our only “win” is your family’s safety and the long-term longevity of your home.
✓ We sell strategy, not hardware. No medical equipment or home products.
✓ We perform no construction or installation.
✓ We accept no referral fees from contractors or vendors.
