One Mission: A Home Where You Can Thrive.
In my three decades working in occupational therapy, I consistently heard the industry phrase "aging in place." To me, that phrase has never felt right — it sounds passive and resigned, like something that just happens to you. And it only tells half the story: homes don't just need to keep up with adults growing older. They need to keep up with every season of life — a toddler learning to climb, a parent recovering their independence, a family adapting to something new.
At SafelySituated™, we reject the idea that your environment should dictate your limitations, at any age or stage. We call it Thriving in Place.™ It's active, not passive — a home that grows and adapts alongside the people living in it.
Thriving means your home isn't just a place where you reside — it's a high-performing foundation that supports your movement, your milestones, and your independence, whether you're welcoming a new baby, planning ahead for yourself, or caring for someone you love. That's what SafelySituated is built to deliver.
THE SAFELYSITUATED™ PHILOSOPHY
Safety, Function, Peace of Mind
A home is only a sanctuary if it functions for the people living in it. When a home is working properly, you don't notice it. But when the "physics of the everyday" starts to create friction — whether it's a toddler's first climb or an adult's changing mobility — the home can go from a place of comfort to a source of concern.
I don't believe safety should feel clinical or overwhelming — I believe it should feel like a baseline of support. I see the invisible details most people miss — the lighting gaps, the floor transitions, the reach zones — and use decades of professional insight to turn them from sources of worry into a home that works with you, not against you. Whether I'm optimizing for discovery for a child or optimizing for autonomy for an adult, my focus stays on three core pillars:
Safety
Identifying the Environmental Micro-Stressors™ that standard architecture often misses — before they become a crisis.
Function
Ensuring the home’s layout and physics support your daily rhythm — so your environment works for you, not against you.
Peace of Mind
Providing a professional roadmap so you can stop worrying about the “what ifs” and start focusing on living.
A PERSONAL MISSION
Retiring the “Safety Police”
I've raised children in a house built to keep up with small, fearless people — but it was my own parents' home that taught me the hardest lessons.
This mission is deeply personal. Like many of my clients, I found myself in the role of the "Safety Police" for my own fiercely independent parents — concerned about their safety from a distance, but my suggestions were met with resistance, as my parents felt they were fine and weren't thrilled about their daughter giving them recommendations.
That experience taught me what no certification could — how delicate it is to balance independence with safety, and how easy it is to wish, in hindsight, you'd started the conversation sooner.
Applying an objective, professional lens to their home changed everything. It moved us away from emotion and back to mutual respect.
I stopped managing their house, and I went back to being their daughter.
That's the peace of mind I want for every family I serve — and part of why I started SafelySituated, so others don't have to learn these lessons the hard way.
THE HEART BEHIND SAFELYSITUATED™
Dick and Jacki Pryor. The Inspiration.
My parents were people of service. They believed it was simply the right way to live. Because they came from humble beginnings, they never forgot what it felt like to need a helping hand. I miss them every day.
They are the inspiration behind:
The core purpose of this company.
The compassion I bring to every single client.
The specialized program we created in their honor.
The Pryor Project™
The Pryor Project™ is their legacy — and mine. We founded it on a simple belief: Safety should never be a privilege.
Through this initiative, we are committed to making high-quality, non-medical home safety assessments accessible to those who need them. We honor Dick and Jacki Pryor by continuing their lifetime mission of giving back.
My parents' beloved Lake Tahoe home — the sanctuary that inspired everything.
