We act as a neutral, third-party advocate — applying Universal Design principles to identify where small changes create the biggest impact on safety, independence, and daily comfort. We look at how your parent moves through their home, how light supports or challenges them throughout the day, and where small friction points quietly accumulate over time. It's about understanding how every part of the home works together for the people who live there.

This is the most common question — and a completely valid one. The key is framing it as something you're doing together, not something being done to them. Many adult children say simply: "I'd love to have an expert take a look so we can both feel confident." Jen is experienced at building rapport with older adults and approaches every assessment with deep respect for their autonomy and independence.

Many families have shared that with targeted modifications, their parent can safely remain at home much longer than expected — sometimes avoiding or delaying assisted living altogether. Note that SafelySituated does not provide medical assessments or clinical recommendations.

Yes — and for the Family Assurance Roadmap™, it's encouraged. Being present allows you to hear findings firsthand, ask questions in the moment, and understand the recommendations so you can support implementation. A family briefing call is included in the Standard tier and above.

Yes — the Global Virtual Roadmap™ is designed exactly for this situation. We conduct a thorough walkthrough via video call, delivering a comprehensive written report and follow-up call. It's an excellent option when you can't be there in person but still want a professional diagnostic of your parent's home.

Most in-person assessments take 1.5 to 3 hours depending on the size of the home. Virtual assessments typically run 60 to 90 minutes.

You'll receive a comprehensive written report with a room-by-room summary of findings rated by priority, a prioritized action plan with specific recommendations, and a Client Resource Guide with product categories and general guidance. It's written in clear, accessible language so it's easy to share with family members, contractors, or anyone helping you implement the recommendations. Your included follow-up call gives you the opportunity to ask questions and discuss next steps at your own pace.

There are no surprise charges for multi-story homes, travel within Orange County, or family calls — the price you see is the price you pay.

Your parent's needs can evolve over time — mobility, routines, and even the layout of a room can shift from one year to the next. The Annual Safety Refresh ($175) is a shorter follow-up visit for returning clients to revisit your original Family Assurance Roadmap, note what's changed, and flag any new opportunities before they become problems.
